President's Choice "Free From" Pork, and Memories Of sauces

My dear sweet wife went into the Superstore on Friday and redeemed the two coupons she had for pork and chicken, so this morning I prepared the pork to grill for lunch. We had a jar of the President's Choice Memories of Dad's Grill sauce in their popular "Memories Of" line, and we ended up really liking it a lot and in fact had gone out and bought a fresh bottle of it within hours of using the freebie we'd gotten :-) My oldest son's first comment was that it tasted like pancake syrup, and sure enough there is maple syrup in this sauce - and very noticably so!!! I plan to to use it as an inspiration in my own home made sauces, in fact!

Once again I found the price of the meat to be a bit steep for my own likings since of course I can get hormone and antibiotic free pork from my local farmer at about 1/3 this price. But it was good meat to be certain, and it is very encouraging to see the big grocery chains making these kinds of steps toward a more sustainable product for the general masses. George Westin / Loblaw's / President's Choice certainly deserve credit where due.

I will be posting a video shortly of the whole process, but basically all I did was cut the pork up and put the pieces into a sealable plastic container, dumped in the bottle of "Memories Of" sauce, put the lid on and gave it a good shake, and then finally put it into the fridge for about 2 hours before grilling it for 25 minutes or so. The ribs were really fantastic like this - it was easy to do and was deemed to be yummy by both adults and the 5 and 7 year olds.

And while I was out at the Superstore getting more of the sauce, I noticed they had Bull's Eye BBQ sauce on sale 2 bottles for $4, which is actually a pretty amazing price for that stuff and even lower than Costco, so even though I vowed this year only to make my own sauces (which I'd been doing til now), I picked up 2 of these because Bull's Eye is my favorite commercial sauce.

Update : Here is the video I took
