Oat Bread

A few days ago an old friend asked me to give him my bread recipe, so I did that and also pointed him at my video on Youtube. That is when I realised how terrible my video was, and decided I needed to shoot a new one! This uses my basic dough recipe, which is 600g flour, 1 tablespoon oil, 1 tsp salt, one tsp yeast, 1 tablespoon honey, and 350ml water.

This time around my 600g of flour was about

  • 130g local organic oat flour
  • 60g gluten flour
  • 260g local organic whole wheat flour
  • 150g local organic white flour

I made the oat flour myself by putting rolled oats into a mini-chopper food processor and buzzing it. And I used olive oil this time around. I always start my yeast in 100F/40C water with a tablespoon of honey. As I mention in this video, the yeast is the best part of the whole process, and why would you not start it? It is about to give its life to fulfill its destiny for you! Let it show off a bit beforehand! Your bread will thank you for it!

Soft Bread Crust

Forgot to mention this part - if you want nice soft bread crust like my boys do, then just rub a bit of butter on it while it is fresh out of the oven.
